Pierce Transit has gone public with some more details about a Transit Oriented Development project they are spearheading in the Dome District.
Pierce Transit is in negotiations with Cody Development Corporation to construct 100+ residential units with ground floor retail, replacing a metal shed structure at 415 East 25th St adjacent to the Tacoma Dome streetcar station. The location is also going to be just north of the soon-to-be under construction Amtrak Station, which will open in 2017.
The development will be targeted at commuters making trips to employment in Downtown Tacoma and elsewhere in the region via Sounder Commuter Rail and ST Express bus service.
“The Tacoma Dome Station is the only transit hub in the region that accommodates every mode of transportation imaginable. This mixed-use development will serve as a catalyst for future investments in the Dome District.,” said City of Tacoma Mayor and Pierce Transit Commissioner Marilyn Strickland.
The Board’s action allows Cody Development Corporation to work exclusively with the agency for 90-120 days for both parties to complete their due diligence.
